Meditest FOB Turbilatex
Bowel cancer is the second leading cause of death in the western world after cardiovascular disease. Among the different types of tumors, bowel cancer is the most common cancer in the adult population when both sexes are considered.
Meditest FOB Turbilatex reagents detect and quantify human hemoglobin, a protein found in blood that can be found in low concentration in patients’ feces. This protein is sensitive to degradation in the gastrointestinal tract and its use is therefore limited to the detection of bleeding from the colon.
Meditest FOB Turbilatex Combo is a non-invasive immunoassay that can be used simply and effectively for bowel cancer screening.
Meditest Transferrin Turbilatex
Transferrin, like hemoglobin, is an iron-binding protein of free iron in the blood. Its presence in feces can be associated with upper or lower intestinal bleeding as it remains stable after passing through the gastrointestinal tract. This makes it an excellent complementary analyte in the detection of occult digestive bleeding.
This is why Medios designed the Meditest Transferrin Turbilatex turbidimetric assay, which detects and quantifies human transferrin in the same specimen collection vial as Meditest FOB Turbilatex.
Meditest Transferrin Turbilatex is a non-invasive immunoassay that can be used as a complement to FOB detection. Together with Meditest FOB Turbilatex, it is a sensitive and specific tool for the detection of neoplasms in the colon.
Meditest Calprotectin Turbilatex
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) has different clinical forms that can affect the entire digestive tract, but more frequently the colon and rectum. Its importance is due to the levels of chronicity, the frequency of relapses, hospitalizations and a non-trivial risk of bowel cancer. Calprotectin is a protein found in neutrophils and appears in high concentrations in any tissue that is experiencing an inflammatory process. In patients with inflammatory bowel disease, this protein can be detected in patient feces. The protein has a high resistance to degradation, which makes it stable in fecal content.
Meditest Calprotectin Turbilatex is a non-invasive immunoassay that measures calprotectin in human feces. This simple test is able to provide rapid and reliable information on the status of the patient’s inflammatory process.
